Now that we have met the twelve signs as twelve distinct lovers, it is time to enter the twelve houses, the bhavas, the sacred rooms of your birth chart where those lovers meet, clash, hold each other, and learn the art of loving. The houses are not abstract boxes on a diagram. They are the actual stages on which your emotional and intimate life unfolds. Each house rules a specific arena of existence, and when planets and signs fall into them, they color every kiss, every quiet moment of longing, every way you give and receive affection, and every way you ultimately grow through relationship.
In Vedic astrology, we use the whole sign house system. The first house begins with your Lagna, your rising sign, and each subsequent house follows in perfect sequence around the wheel. The Lagna is you: your body, your face, the way you walk into a room and make someone look twice. From there, the houses unfold like the petals of a night blooming flower, each one revealing another layer of how you give and receive love, how you express desire, how you heal old wounds, and how you eventually find peace and wholeness through intimacy.
