If Venus is the magnet, Mars is the engine. If Venus whispers, Come closer, stay, let me adore you, then Mars declares, I want. I will. I am moving toward you now. Mars represents the active dimension of desire: the pursuit, the assertion, the raw physical drive that pushes us toward what we crave. It is the fire in the blood, the impulse that rises before thought, the animal body saying yes or no without consulting the polite mind. Without Mars, Venus would sit in eternal, beautiful stillness, admired but never approached.
Mars governs the sexual impulse in its most direct form. It rules libido, initiative, and the physical expression of passion. It is the planet of penetration, whether literal or metaphorical. Mars also rules anger, competition, and the instinct to survive. This makes it a complex force. The same energy that makes a lover thrillingly assertive in the bedroom can also make them combative at the breakfast table. To understand Mars is to understand how we go after what we want, how we fight for it, and how we consummate the chase.
