We have mapped the birth chart in all its intricate glory, tracing the signatures of desire through the planets, the asteroids, the nodes, and the houses. We have learned how two charts meet in the alchemy of synastry, and how a relationship itself is born as a third entity in the composite chart. Yet all of this, however detailed, is a still photograph. It is a single frame from a film that runs the length of a lifetime. Desire is not static. It moves, it changes, it sleeps and wakes, it burns brightly and then subsides into embers, only to flare again when the wind of time blows across it. To understand the living, breathing nature of desire, we must turn to the movements of the planets after birth. We must enter the realm of transits and progressions.
